Some of the diet habits that are believed to be causes of irritable bowel syndrome are:
- dairy products
- large meals
- spicy foods
- fatty foods
- not enough water intake
Aside from that just plain old stress in any form is what causes irritable bowel syndrome not only in the affected person but potentially also in people that are exposed to the stress infected person.
There are theories that another IBS cause could be the muscles in the colon which is why a diet high in fiber is often recommended to help smooth bowel movements.
IBS- Irritable Bowel Syndrome Symptoms can be soothed with Digestrin™
Irritable Bowel Syndrome or IBS is emerging as a common, irritating health condition estimated to be affecting millions of people today. In fact, in today's fast food, fast paced society, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is believed to be so common that it is almost accepted as a normal part of life, something we just ignore or sweep under the rug and leave untreated.
If you are someone suffering the effects and symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), I am sure you would agree that it is absolutely unacceptable, not to mention uncomfortable, to just ignore all of the "SOS distress signals" that our digestive system and bowels are sending to the captain of the ship (us) that something isn't quite right down there in that part of our ship (body). The irritated bowels are asking us to give the ship's fuel conversion system ( bowels and digestive system ) a tune-up to get back up and running at optimum levels before the ship has a breakdown. The fuel system ( irritated bowels ) is clogged, choking and struggling to keep up with the demands and pace of the ship. The irritated bowels just need some attention, a little soothing relief and assistance from us, the captains of our wonderful vessels we call the human body. So we the captains are faced with a choice. It's "Sink or Swim" time, ignore the Irritable bowel symptoms or give some orders, take some action now, and get our bowels and digestive systems back into ship-shape.
If your ship has been suffering or displaying some of these characteristics and symptoms in your bowels or digestive system, you might be suffering the effects of Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Diets For Irritated Bowel Syndrome
The importance of a healthy diet for helping to curb the effects of IBS, obesity, diabetes, and other health conditions is emerging in Western society like never before. Chronic obesity, diabetes, and digestive issues like IBS seem to be reaching epidemic-like proportions. The dieting tips and advice for IBS and other issues seem to be endless. It is a good idea to talk to a certified nutritionist in your area or even start reading basic anatomy books to help you sort through all the conflicting dieting information out there.
Remember, just because a certain diet worked for someone, doesn't mean that diet is the right diet to help you with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Individual body types are different and so are metabolic rates. There are many individual factors to consider when choosing the best diet to help you with your particular case of IBS.
Some of my dieting favorites are ayurvedic dieting books for specific body types (doshas), diets for specific ailments (like IBS and digestive issues), and diets that deal with balancing pH levels in the digestive system and throughout the body.
Another thing to consider when dealing with something like IBS is a cleanse program. Western society is filled with chronic over-eaters these days. The digestive system can never catch up with the demands from over indulging and conditions like IBS result. Some Eastern texts claim the average Westerner eats 10 times the amount of food necessary to live a healthy life. This may be an extreme example, but it can indicate the disparity between the North American diet and the rest of the world.
Digestive system cleanses or natural colon cleanses can help the digestive system recover from the effects of over eating, bacterial over-growths, or an unbalance pH level. Natural colon cleansers can help keep the colon healthy.
